My Mop Solution

I bought this product (one of my only infomercial purchases ever) after a 10 year struggle with various mops of different producers and designs. I HATE floor cleaning, but this product is awesome. It still is slow going, but you don't have to go over the same area a lot, just go slowly. It is awkward to use, but no more so than a heavy bucket filled with dirty water. Also, no more need for cleaning products! So my septic system is safer! My husband like it just for that reason. If you hate cleaning like me, I recommend this product to make your life easier.

CLEANS - easy- portable - great tool for a "non-housekeeper"

First steam mop and I'm quite pleased. I would not have spent this much on my first steam mop except that the reviews of the less expensive mops along with the reviews for this mop really pushed me to get an item with higher quality that will last. I am very, very pleased with this purchase and I use the mop weekly.Why I selected this model:- More uses than other steam mops- Can use own towels, not restricted to particular pads- Steams vertical surfaces & cleans windows (we have big picture windows)- Ranked #1 by Better Homes & Gardens in 2012My floors are CLEANER than ever. My husband is a Pine-sol & mop man and I can't stand the smell. I would use a swiffer or sponge mop between... Our linoleum floors were grungy.... Now the floors are white sock clean!!!Easy to fill, comes with a funnel so that you can fill it with unit standing upright.Easy to clean, I cleaned per the instructions, every 12-15 uses. Since I use distilled water there was no build up in the heating chamber that needed cleaned. I have been using for almost 4 months and the quantity of steam has not diminished.Although you can use tap water, I use distilled because our well water has high mineral content.The cord is long enough to clean 20x30 room without running out of cord.Large water resevoir - I only fill it half way. For regular cleaning this is all that is needed. For heavy cleaning I may have to use another half resevoir. Not filling it all the way makes the unit lighter.Storing - stands on its own or can hang from a loop that is attached to the top handle. Cord can either be wrapped around lower & upper handles or can be looped, secured with attached velcro strap, and left hanging.Ease of use - Very easy and user friendly. It does glide forward better if you bring the handle down lower. Sometimes it kings of gets "stuck" and does not want to glide well. Then I have to man-handle it a bit -- I don't know if this is true of all steam cleaners or not? If I reach under the body and lift a little while pushing forward then it will start gliding again. Sometimes this is due to the pad/towel slipping back.My wish list for changes:- Steam level knob has no markings to know if you are low, medium, or high. Would be faster & easier if there were some markings. You learn to hear the difference in the steam level.- Put a clip on the middle of the top front to better secure pad/towels. I have found that regardless of what pad or towel I use, it will slide towards the back of the unit and I have to adjust it several times while using.This was a smart purchase - especially for someone like me who doesn't like to clean - now I just sweep then steam and the floors are CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN. I love that the bathroom floors are sanitized and the mop easily fits around the toilet and sink. It's fun to use and cleaning the pads/towels is much better than dealing with dirty mop water and a mop.I recommend this to anyone with linoleum or tile floors - it is wonderful!

Good Steam mop

I purchased this because Good Housekeeping gave it a rating of A. I have purchased a Shark Steam mop at Bed Bath and Beyond but ended up returning it. I would say that after using the Oreck, I found that it is definitely a more superior product. I love the extra long cord and a large water reservoir. It produces a lot of steam and it can be used overhead so I was even able to steam clean the sticky ceiling (from oil and moisture) in my kitchen.
